MIT Alumni Event Otautahi - 2024

The Manaiakalani Innovative teacher program has been running for over 10 years and last week Alumni were invited to a hui in Christchurch.  Generously hosted by KPMG, this event  provided opportunity for past participants to come to together and I was fortunate to have been chosen to attend. 

The event had a duel focus.  Firstly to bring together Alumni as a group familiar with the design thinking framework to consider issues related to the current Manaiakalani programmes, including the Reading Practise Intensive, Maths Practise Intensive and Structured literacy frameworks.  We were able to share our thoughts on the problems we encounted in the classroom and brainstorm possible solutions which would be beneficial to the entire Manaiakalani network. 

Secondly we were challenged to reflect on past projects, and how they had developed over the time since we had completed MIT .  Matt as leader of the MIT programme invited those who wished to, to share a short slam presentation.  It was great to gain insight into the impressive projects of my compatriots.
